DEL MAR, California, Mar. 12, 2016–Steffen Peters and Legolas won the Dressage Affaire CDI3* Grand Prix Freestyle Saturday to keep alive their record of always winning in 26 starts in California over four years.
Steffen and the 14-year-old Westfalen gelding, ranked No. 6 in the world, scored 82.000 per cent for the win a day after taking the Grand Prix.
“Another great freestyle for Legolas,” Steffen told dressage-news.com. “I hope I can keep him this calm for the rest of the season. Even the walk was very relaxed today.
“Legolas did two tests without a mistake in the flying changes. I’m very proud of him.”
Kimberly McGrath of Redlands, California on Winslow was second on 74.002 per cent and Jan Ebeling of Moorpark, California on FRH Rassolini third on 72.025 per cent in the Freestyle that had only three combinations.
The score was the second highest for the 2015 Pan American Games team and individual gold medal combination, the highest of 84.050 per cent was in the World Cup event in the Los Angeles city of Burbank in January.
Since beginning international competition in 2012, Steffen of San Diego, California and Legolas have started 55 times–26 times in California, nine times in Florida, three at the Pan Ams in Toronto and the other 17 in Europe.
