LAUSANNE, Switzerland, June 14, 2016–Bettina de Rham has been appointed director of dressage and para-equestrian dressage at the International Equestrian Federation that the FEI announced Tuesday will be added to her current role in charge of vaulting and reining.
In what the FEI said was a “restructuring in its sports departments,” Bettina, 45 years old and an amateur dressage and eventing competitor, will take up the new positions in September, after the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
Of the three Olympic disciplines, dressage is the only FEI department to be bundled with other non-Olympic sports–jumping is focused solely on that sport while eventing deals with the sport and Olympic responsibilities.
The appointment fills the posts that were held by Trond Asmyr for the past seven years but left the FEI due to ongoing health issues.
Carina Mayer was appointed senior manager and acting head of dressage and para-equestrian dressage but leaves the FEI in September to become secretary general of the European Equestrian Federation in Warendorf, Germany.
