OMAHA, Nebraska, May 6, 2016–Canada's Karen Pavicic on Don Daiquiri won the International Omaha CDI4* Grand Prix Freestyle Friday in the first official use anywhere in the world of a new judging system designed to make the scoring more transparent and open the door to the type of commentary that has made ice skating popular.

Karen and her World Games team mount, a 14-year-old Oldenburg gelding, received a score of 73.105 per cent with the Canadian Olympic pair of Jacqueline Brooks and D Niro second on 71.198 per cent and Lauren Sprieser of Marshall, Virginia on Ellegria third on 69.725 per cent.

For Jacqui, whose “Hallelujah” Freestyle is popular around the world, developed a love affair with Omaha for the quality of the event and, more personally, that her Labradoodle dog Tucker colicked and was successfully operated on two hours before her Freestyle ride.

The new computerized  judging system was implemented at this World Cup test event after testing at Perl and Warendorf in Germany and Fritzens, Austria last year. (separate reports will be posted on the new Freestyle judging system and preparations for the World Cup Final in Omaha in 2017.

OMAHA, Nebraska, May 5, 2016–Karen Pavicic and Don Daiquiri won the inaugural International Omaha CDI4* Grand Prix Thursday night to kick off the test event for the 2017 World Cup Finals of dressage and jumping in this American Midwest city of can-do attitudes and welcoming friendliness.

The spectacular CenturyLink Center that is a major convention venue and also home to Creighton University basketball team has been converted for the dressage and jumping test event with no expense spared to bring in two European judges and a Canadian to join two Americans for the nine combinations that shared the $10,000 Grand Prix purse.

The Canadian 2014 World Games team combination scored 67.800 per cent for the win before a crowd of about 1,000 fans. The Freestyle Friday night is expected to draw about 5,000 spectators.

Hiroshi Hoketsu

Hiroshi Hoketsu, probably the world's oldest international equestrian rider at the age 75, rode Brioni W, 15-year-old Westfalen stallion (Breitling W x Diego xx) that he bought at the end of 2015.

The Westfalen stallion (Breitling W x Diego xx) had been competed at Big Tour for five years by Brigitte Wittig of Germany.

Competed in jumping at the Tokyo Olympics in 1964.

Forty-four years later he rode his Whisper in dressage at the Beijing Olympics in 2008 and then at the London Games in 2012. He rode Calambo on the Japanese team at the World Games in Aachen, Germany in 2006,
