Karen Pavicic & Don Daiquiri Win Omaha CDI4* Freestyle in 1st Use of New Computerized Judging System

OMAHA, Nebraska, May 6, 2016–Canada's Karen Pavicic on Don Daiquiri won the International Omaha CDI4* Grand Prix Freestyle Friday in the first official use anywhere in the world of a new judging system designed to make the scoring more transparent and open the door to the type of commentary that has made ice skating popular.

Karen and her World Games team mount, a 14-year-old Oldenburg gelding, received a score of 73.105 per cent with the Canadian Olympic pair of Jacqueline Brooks and D Niro second on 71.198 per cent and Lauren Sprieser of Marshall, Virginia on Ellegria third on 69.725 per cent.

For Jacqui, whose “Hallelujah” Freestyle is popular around the world, developed a love affair with Omaha for the quality of the event and, more personally, that her Labradoodle dog Tucker colicked and was successfully operated on two hours before her Freestyle ride.

The new computerized  judging system was implemented at this World Cup test event after testing at Perl and Warendorf in Germany and Fritzens, Austria last year. (separate reports will be posted on the new Freestyle judging system and preparations for the World Cup Final in Omaha in 2017.
