Judy Reynolds & Vancouver K Wrap Up USA Swing With Victory at Devon World Cup Freestyle

DEVON, Pennsylvania, Oct. 1, 2016–Ireland's Olympic partnership of Judy Reynolds and Vancouver K wrapped up a swing of American competitions by capturing the World Cup Grand Prix Freestyle Saturday night for their fourth victory in four starts.

Judy and the 14-year-old KWPN gelding picked up a maximum of 20 points with their winning result of 77.450 per cent to take back to Europe to give the pair a head start in the World Cup Western European League with the aim of earning a return ticket to America for the final at Omaha next March.

For Judy, based in Germany, and the horse she began competing at Big Tour 2 1/2 years ago the first journey for the duo across the Atlantic has been a triumph. The pair was the first representing Ireland to make it through to the freestyle at an Olympics which they did at Rio de Janeiro in August.

The pair captured both the Grand Prix and the Freestyle at the iconic Central Park Horse Show in New York last week then came 90 miles/145km south to compete at this competition on well-heeled Main Line Philadelphia.

The score of 77.450 per cent was their second highest freestyle result and the 20 points–the maximum available–for first place will give her a head start when the intensely competitive Western European League of nine qualifiers in which she competes begins in October.

Florida-based Denmark team pair of Mikala Gundersen and My Lady placed second on 74.750 per cent.

Arlene “Tuny” Page of Wellington, Florida on Woodstock scored 74.150 per cent for third place, a day after placing second in the Grand Prix in which the pair posted a personal best.

Canada's Jill Irving extended her unprecedented winning streak on Degas by taking the Grand Prix Special with another personal best score of 70.255 per cent. Jill and the 14-year-old Hanoverian gelding have won their three last starts, the World Cup freestyle at Saugerties, New York last week and the Grand Prix and the Special here.

Fellow Canadian Megan Lane on San D'Or was second on 67.882 per cent and Laura Noyes Putnam of Gray, Maine on Galveston third on 66.510.
