MOSCOW, Sept. 25, 2016–Inessa Merkulova and Mister X notched their fourth World Cup victory in winning the CDI-W Grand Prix Freestyle Sunday to guarantee Russia's top pair a start at the Final in Omaha next March.

Inessa and the 12-year-old Russian-bred Trakehner gelding scored 80.375 per cent to give the rider the maximum of 80 points in the Central European League with just two more events to go. The pair won the Grand Prix Saturday.

Russia's top combination in the past three years of Olympics, World Games and European Championships, are looking to become one of two pairs allocated to Central Europe and go to their fourth straight World Cup Final, the annual global championship centered on the musical performance.

Marina Aframeeve on Vosk, also owned by Inessa, placed second in the Freestyle on 76.000 per cent while Inessa on Avans was third on 75.025 per cent.

Hanna Karasiova of Belarus, who on Arlekino had been atop the Central European standings, slips to second as she placed fourth and did not add to the 74 points she already has accumulated from the maximum of four results while Marina Aframeeva remains third on the standings.
