WELLINGTON, Florida, Jan. 24, 2016–Olivia LaGoy-Weltz and Rassing's Lonoir, reserve for the United States team at last year's Pan American Games, rode their first Grand Prix at a national competition at the Global Dressage Festival grounds Sunday, the latest in a new group of combinations to make Big Tour debuts this year.
Olivia and the 12-year-old Danish Warmblood gelding received a score of 68.967 per cent from the three-member international ground jury in the pair's first Grand Prix competition in this Olympic year.
Olivia, who winters in Wellington but is based in Middleburg, Virginia in summer, and Lonoir was a Small Tour combination with the American squad that competed at Munich, Germany and Achleiten, Austria last year ahead of the selection of the U.S. team for the Pan Ams. The pair were selected as Small Tour reserve for the team that included two Grand combinations and two at Prix St. Georges/Intermediate 1.
Charlotte Jorst of Reno, Nevada, also made the Wellington Grand Prix debut of the former Danish team Kastel's Akeem Foldager this weekend.
Kasey Perry-Glass, who moved from California to Wellington, competed her Goerklintgaards Dublet at Grand Prix in the national show this weekend for a score of 73.350 per cent.
Both Kasey on Dublet and Charlotte on Akeem are entered for the World Cup Grand Prix in Wellington this week.
