Debut of USA’s Kasey Perry-Glass & Dublet With Top Score at Wellington World Cup Grand Prix on Day 1

WELLINGTON, Florida, Jan. 27, 2016–Kasey Perry-Glass of the United States rode Goerklintgaards Dublet in the horse's international Grand Prix debut for the top score Wednesdy on the first of two days of the Big Tour class that was moved indoors because of day-long torrential downpours but marked more by wide differences in the judges' marks.

Kasey's ride on the 13-year-old Danish Warmblood gelding was virtually error-free and earned a total score of 72.320 per cent. German 4* judge Christoph Hess at E awarded the pair 77.200 per cent while Canada's 3* judge Lee Tubman directly across the arena on the long side at E gave them 68.700 per cent. Both Linda Zang of the U.S. and Cesar Torrente of Colombia scored them at 71.800 and Ulrike Neville of Germany 72.100 per cent.

Of the 10 rides that were performed Wednesday from the total of 50 scheduled, other combinations making their CDI debuts, included Florida-based Dane Lars Petersen on Elfenfeur, Germany's Christoph Koschel on Butopiar and Gabriel Armando of Argentina on Zipero.

The standout, though, was Kasey, who moved to Wellington from California for their third year competing at the Adequan Global Dressage Festival. She competed Dublet at Small Tour in Europe as well as the United States in 2015 and also rode her 17-year-old mare Trøstruplund’s Scarlet at Grand Prix in the U.S. and Europe last year as well.

As much as six inches (15.24cm) of rain fell on the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center of which the Global circuit is part. The weather forced cancellation of the Winter Equestrian Festival jumper and hunter events. But the Van Kampen covered arena that easily accommodated the competition and warmup arenas as well as spectator stands was implemented for dressage.
