Veteran boost from Allen and Page

At the end of October 2014, British Dressage (BD) and the Veteran Horse Society (VHS) announced a new championship for the golden oldies of the dressage community and what a hit it’s proved to be. Over 200 horse and rider combinations have secured a coveted spot at the finals this year, proving that age is no barrier in dressage! To add to the good news, leading quality horse feed brand Allen & Page have pledged their support to the championships for 2015 and ’16.

Taking pace at Vale View in Leicestershire over the weekend of 30 October/1 November, the 2015 championship features classes for veteran horses and riders across six levels; Prelim to Advanced Medium, which will be split into three sections. The Veteran Horse Championships is for horses foaled in 1999 or earlier with two sections, one for horses 15 – 19 and one for those aged 20 or over. The Veteran Rider Championship is for competitors in the 55 or older bracket.

Already supporters of the Veteran Horse Society, this is Allen & Page’s first association with BD. Tim Page, sales director said; “The fact that so many people have qualified for this event shows the scale of the veteran market out there. We’re glad to be involved in such a fantastic new event and can’t wait to see the competition unfold. We stand for quality and strive for it in everything we do. I’m sure this competition will deliver that on every level. For us, this is about reaching people who may not yet know about our excellent veteran feed range. We create product when there’s a need and we believe this range for older horses filled a gap in the market. We’ll be on hand to answer questions on the day and look forward to awarding lots of prizes!”
Alongside prize money and fabulous rosettes at every level, Allen & Page are also supporting special recognition for the oldest horse and rider combinations in the form of gift vouchers for their products. With their dedicated Veteran Vitality range, they’re perfectly placed to help keep all the horses looking and feeling young at heart.

Qualification has now finished for 2015, but we hope to see plenty of people supporting at Vale View at the end of the month.

The 2016 championship qualification gets underway on 01 December and there will be classes at the same levels with Bronze and Silver sections under the BD structure. So with a range of classes to cater for all abilities (and ages!), next year looks like being bigger and better for the Veteran Horse and Rider Championships supported by Allen & Page.
